Do you know what is really happening on the organisation's network?

The article takes the example of Amazon Sidewalk, promoted as a low-bandwidth wireless network that can connect devices in hard-to-reach places. In addition to known or perceived consumer security concerns, and the security practices that can address them, other "unknown unknown" threats raise valid alarms about corporate network security:
• Automatic opt-in to Sidewalk, unless the user has explicitly opted out
• A new, untested triple encryption method
• Update and patching issues
• Third-party access to data
The Cato Networks research team analysed the network traffic of dozens of companies and found hundreds of thousands of flows generated by Amazon Alexa-enabled devices, as well as flows from many consumer applications and services such as TikTok, TOR nodes and Robinhood.
Unidentified applications and devices, and Shadow IT in general, have always posed a security risk. But with the introduction of remote work, home devices with all their vulnerabilities have suddenly become part of the corporate network.
Yet IT risks can only be identified if the organisation has complete visibility of EVERYTHING that connects to its corporate network.
This is where SASE comes in. By operating at network level for all devices and users, in the office and at home, the company can see every flow and every device on the network, gaining visibility of the "unknown unknowns" and thus securing the network.
